Posted Jul 25, 2017With great pleasure, WSP-MTCI hosted the “Mid-Year Crew Safety Seminar” in collaboration with Western Shipping PtE. Ltd., Byzantine Maritime Corporation & Western Shipping Southeast Asia Inc,.
The Slogan of the Seminar was “Safe Navigation Ensures Safe Voyages”
Western Shipping PtE. Ltd., Singapore was represented by General Manager Capt. Belal Ahmed, Deputy General Manager Christos Maragkousis, QSA Capt. Niladri Chakraborty & IT Manager Narayanan Sundaram.
Byzantine Maritime Corporation of Greece was represented by DPA Mr. Dimitris Vlamis & Fleet Manager Capt. Dimitris Davaris.
Western Shipping Southeast Asia Inc,. Manila was represented by President. Mr. Manuel David & QMR/Head Admin-HR Atty. Mariel David.
The seminar spanned over two days and was attended by officers from both, the tanker and bulk carrier fleet. A total of 30 tanker officers, and 36 bulk carrier officers attended the seminars.
On the first day the seminar was planned as joint sessions for officers of both fleets. This was done as the thrust was on “Safe Navigation” and “Common Engineering Issue” which are mutually inclusive to both fleets.
On the second day, the seminar was conducted as parallel entities whereby “fleet specific issues” could be adequately addressed.
The seminar topics included industry and company driven presentations and workshops. Additionally, question and answer sessions gave attendees the fruitful opportunity for open interfacing.
The feedback received from participants can be generally summarized in an overwhelming positive response, with a good majority inquiring “when next”.
Special flash drives ‘commemorating the seminar-event’ were designed by Atty. Mariel David, and were used to upload an electronic copy of the seminar topics, for the attendees’ reflective reference.
In summary, this seminar was benchmarked at the “best-yet”, and hence giving all parties concerned a defined target for continual improvement.
The seminar was closely covered by Marino World and Seaway magazines, and will be carried in their upcoming publications.
