Scope:
Familiarization of the Seafarer with the concepts, scope, implementation & application of Behaviour-Based Safety
Objectives:
1. Recognize & describe what is attitude, behaviour & culture and how they differ.
2. Identify good and bad behaviour.
3. Describe concepts of BBS & how it can have a positive impact on ship-operations.
4. Recognize importance of proactive reporting of unsafe acts & unsafe conditions.
5. Determine how to utilize BBS-Observations, obtain feedback & set up interventions
6. Identify behaviours to be adopted & avoided. Take remedial measures as necessary.
7. Describe optimal-operations, importance of situation awareness & communication
8. Recognize importance of developing soft skills competencies for Safe and incident-free shipboard operations.
9. Recognize value of a variety of soft skills & behaviours which when harmonized can improve the individual & team’s Safe-Performance.
10. Understand how to assess behavioural competencies utilizing key operational areas.
